Ready for an awesome heartwarming story? I read that a cheetah cub from Oregon has now been adopted by Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. The cub is now with his new family, which has two cubs and a mother. The cub was an only child, so that was an issue for him and his survival.
This was an issue, because only child cubs don’t provide enough encouragement for cheetah mothers to produce milk. Cincinnati Zoo’s cheetah mother, Etosha, gave birth to the two cubs around the same time the adopted cub was born. The zookeepers decided and hoped that Etosha would care for the cub if they introduced him.
He had arrived on Monday, and they placed him in their nest box on Tuesday with the other cubs. When putting him in the box they had to make him have the same smell, so the keepers rubbed their blanket on him, or the mother would be suspicious otherwise. It’s funny that smell can play such a big part in an animal’s life. Thankfully, Etosha took care of the cub just like her own.
